Sony is trying to simplify the branding of the company's long-struggling smartphone portfolio, dropping the somewhat confusing letters following the Xperia moniker and starting over with new digits. The Xperia 1 is the latest flagship device, formally unveiled at the MWC 2019 trade show a couple of weeks ago alongside the "super mid-range" Xperia 10 and 10 Plus.
